Johannesburg - Siphiwe Tshabalala could miss the start of the new 2014-15 PSL season after being ruled out of action for up to two weeks through injury.
According to the supersport.com website, the Kaizer Chiefs star could be on the sidelines when AmaKhosi tackle Mpumalanga Black Aces in the MTN8 quarterfinal on August 3, but should be back for the league opener against Free State Stars the following weekend.
The club made the announcement through a statement on Wednesday after the player limped out of the 4-2 friendly victory over Chippa United in port Elizabeth at the weekend.
“Midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala has been ruled out of action for 10 to 14 days. ‘Shabba’ was injured in a preseason friendly match against Chippa United last Sunday,” the statement read.
“A Chippa United player tackled and fell over the midfield maestro’ knee causing harm to the inner ligament of the knee. ‘Shabba’ had a sonar this afternoon (Tuesday), which revealed the extent of the injury.
“‘Shabba’ will miss the Carling Black Label Cup this coming Saturday, the 26th of July 2014.”
