Shabba receives Komphela praise

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela praised Siphiwe Tshabalala for responding positively to wearing the club armband.

Shabba was elected as Amakhosi skipper by the club’s captain committee which included the likes of Siboniso Gaxa, Willard Katsande, Morgan Gould, Tsepo Masilela, Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Lorenzo Gordinho.

According to KickOff, Komphela reveals that despite Shabba’s role at the club, the midfielder accepted the responsibility of being a leader.

“Shabba responded tremendously well to being bestowed with the armband and he has accepted the responsibility,” says Komphela.

“He is getting the support from his teammates and you can't ask for more than that,” he adds.

Meanwhile, the 30-year-old will lead out his troops on Saturday, September 19 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in the MTN8 final against Ajax Cape Town.

Kick-off is at 15:00.
