Shabba: Confidence is high

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala says that the mood in the Glamour Boys' camp is great after their strong start to the season.

Amakhosi are thus far undefeated in the 2014/15 campaign, winning all seven of their Premiership fixtures and easing to the MTN8 title.

This run comes despite Stuart Baxter at times being deprived of a number of key players, including Tshabalala. As such, it comes as no surprise that confidence is high at Naturena.

"It has been a great start to the season with the team winning seven matches in a row. We got the Innovation Q1 and that on top of the MTN 8 trophy has been a bright start.”

“Regardless of the injuries in the team we have recuperated and it can only get better," Tshabalala said on his official website.

"The spirit is high at camp and the players look lively and confident. I guess that is how any player would feel when all is going right for the team."

Next on the agenda for Chiefs is a Telkom Knockout first-round clash with Martizburg United on Saturday. It's an interesting assignment for Tshabalala and his team-mates as they beat the Team of Choice 1-0 last weekend.

However, Tshabalala knows this will count for little when the two teams face off once more.

"Coming up is the Telkom Knockout and we are featured against Maritzburg United who we just played against in the league. It will not be an easy match because we all know that the league is different from a cup competition," said the 30-year-old.

"They are a strong team and will always pose a threat. We are prepared and shall see who wants it the most on the day."

Amakhosi face United on Saturday, October 4 at the FNB Stadium.

Kick-off is a 20:15.
