Serero targets CL qualification

Bafana Bafana and Ajax Amsterdam creative midfielder, Thulani Serero, has expressed his hunger for UEFA Champions League football next season.

Serero has in the past few months been linked with a move to Serie A outfit AC Milan, and it appears his desire for Champions League action may be the deciding factor in whether he stays or leaves the Dutch giants.

Ajax finished second to PSV in the Dutch Eredivisie last season and will compete in two rounds of play-offs to secure a spot in the Champions League group stages.

The team has commenced its pre-season preparations as they target an improved return in silverware in the upcoming campaign.

"My goal is to make the main draw of the UEFA Champions League with Ajax again and to be this year's league champion," Serero told his club's official website.

"I have not had a long vacation. In total, I have been free for two weeks. I spent some time with family and friends. I've really enjoyed it.

"For me it was long enough. I love football and I prefer to do it all day, so I do not mind to start again.

"Most players do not like the pre-season. It's not my favourite part of the season. I think it's more fun to play games. But pre-season is necessary. We have a month to be fully fit."
