Senzo is our skipper - VV

Cape Town - Vladimir Vermezovic has handed the captain's armband to Senzo Meyiwa until Lucky Lekgwathi returns to the playing field.

The Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana shot stopper has been in fine form for both club and country this season and has now been given the added responsibility of leading the Sea Robbers.

KickOff.com report that Vladimir Vermezovic has chosen Senzo Meyiwa to lead his side in the absence of Lucky Lekgwathi.

Meyiwa has been winning all the accolades as he stepped in to fill the void left by Itumeleng Khune in the national side. He is yet to concede goal in AFCON 22015 qualifying.

"Senzo is the captain of Bafana Bafana and also, he can be a captain of Orlando Pirates.

"It was a decision of me and Siyabonga Sangweni to give it to him,” said Vermezovic.

“I think he is a very serious guy, he is the child of Orlando Pirates.

"He came from the club development and completely deserves to be the captain of the club."

Vermezovic confirmed that Lekgwathi remains the club captain with Meyiwa taking on the role on a permanent basis until the defender returns from injury.

Mpumalanga Black Aces face the task of finding the back of Meyiwa's net in PSL action on Tuesday night at the the Mbombela Stadium.

The match kicks off at 19:30.
