Johannesburg - Following his heroics in the CAF Champions League, Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa said the competition for a starting berth in the team will be become tougher.
The 26-year-old goal-minder was speaking to Pirates' official website after he was rewarded with a brand new Peugeot 208 GTI for claiming the club’s player of the month award.
However, the prize is not permanent as Meyiwa will keep it only for the duration of his reign but the Umlazi-born shot-stopper shared his delights.
“It is a great privilege to be driving this car,” said Meyiwa.
“It has a great sporty feel and I will definitely enjoy driving it for the month.
“Now the competition will get to another level. The guys were happy for me to get the car but they also want to do well this month and get the car too. I think overall the initiative is great - it motivates us to work harder,” concluded Meyiwa.
This will be a confidence booster for the Bafana Bafana goalkeeper ahead of a trip to Brazzaville on Friday.
The Buccaneers will lock horns with Congolese outfit, AC Leopards, and a win will guarantee the 1995 champions a semi-final spot.
The match will be played at the Dolisie Stadium with a kick-off scheduled for 15:30 SA time.
