Scott sidelined through injury

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town’s Head of Medical Jantho Greyling said that it is unfortunate that a few players are out of action ahead of the club’s first home match of the Absa Premiership against Maritzburg United.

Greyling told Ajax Cape Town’s official website, that Granwald Scott is injured on his right leg after coming back from his left abductor muscle injury; this was due to slippery and wet conditions when they played against Bidvest Wits last weekend at Coetzenburg stadium.

“It’s unfortunate that he got injured, because he just came back from an injury on his left leg, now it’s his right side,” Greyling said.

“The slippery and wet conditions played a big role in his injury. We will assess him throughout this week to see how his injury heals,” said Greyling on the website.

Despite Scott's injury, Greyling mentioned that Brandon Petersen and Tashreeq Morris are recovering very well and have a few months left with their rehabilitation program which will see them back on the field soon.

“Brandon has been doing very well. He will have his last follow-up with the specialist on Thursday, where he is likely to get the go-ahead to do more training with the goalkeepers.

He is still a few months away from playing any matches, but he is ahead of his time.”

"Tassie [Morris] is also doing well with his recovery. He will go see the specialist next week to see where he is at.

"He has had no complications with his surgery and his rehab training, so we expect him to also be back to full training in the second round of the season,” Greyling concluded.

Kick-off is on Saturday, August 2 at 20:15.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
