Saintfiet named Togo coach

Lome - Experienced Belgian Tom Saintfiet is to coach the Togo national side after his appointment was announced by the Togolese Football Federation (FTF) on Tuesday.

The 42-year-old - who has previously coached among others Namibia, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia and Malawi - will sign a two year contract in the coming days with the target of guiding Togo to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, which is being hosted by Gabon.

Saintfiet, who will be assisted by former Togo international Jean Paul Dosseh Abalo, replaces Tchanile Tchakala, who had been in the post since June 2014.

The Belgian coach was sacked by PSL club side, Free State Stars in November 2014.
