SSU search for rejuvenation win

Cape Town - Chippa United will look to extend SuperSport United’s winless run in the Absa Premiership when the teams meet at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Chippa recorded a fourth successive league match without a win when they drew 0-0 away to Platinum Stars in midweek.

The Eastern cape side has claimed 15 points from eight home matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are University of Pretoria (away), Maritzburg United (home) and Ajax Cape Town (away).

The Chilli Boys are placed seventh on the Absa Premiership log with 22 points from 16 matches.

SuperSport saw their winless run in the league stretched to five matches when they were beaten 1-0 away to Bidvest Wits in midweek.

The Tshwane side has claimed seven points from as many away matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Free State Stars (home), Black Aces (away) and Kaizer Chiefs (home).

Matsatsantsa are placed 12th on the PSL log with 17 points from 15 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Chippa and SuperSport have met in three league matches since 2012/13.

Matsatsantsa have an unbeaten record, with two wins and a draw in the sequence.

Chippa’s only previous home match against SuperSport ended in a 2-2 draw in 2012/13.

When the teams met earlier this season in Tshwane, Matsatsantsa claimed a 1-0 home win.

Kick-off is at 15:30 on Sunday, December 21.
