Rosslee slams poor defending

Vereeniging - Moroka Swallows head coach Craig Rosslee was furious over his team’s poor defending which led to their humiliating 4-1 loss to Jomo Cosmos over the weekend.

Swallows endured their heaviest defeat of the season when they went down to Ezenkosi in their National First Division (NFD)/Premier Soccer League (PSL) relegation/promotion playoff encounter at the Vaal University of Technology stadium on Sunday.

Goals from Thabo Ralebakeng, Brice Aka and a brace from Charlton Mashumba were enough to give Ezenkosi their first win of the playoffs, while Swallows grabbed a consolation goal through veteran striker Siyabonga Nomvethe.

"Transition" hinted that their main concern heading to that clash was his players mentality after defeating Black Leopards last week.

“We defended very badly and that’s without doubt,” Rosslee stressed.

“You know that when you play guys like Jomo, they always produce clinical performances in front of goal especially when they are playing at home.

“They always play the very same way they played against us, knocking the ball around and always quicker.

“We were always late on the game and I am very disappointed with the way the guys performed today (Sunday).

“Our concerns were the mentality and character instead of thinking of how we played in our previous game.

“But now we have lost the vital three points and that’s really sad for us.”

Swallows will face Black Leopards at the Thohoyandou stadium in their next playoff encounter on Sunday.
