Rodgers happy in Mother City

Cape Town - New Ajax Cape Town recruit, striker Eleazar Rodgers, is looking forward to revive his career with the Urban Warriors after a disappointing season with Mamelodi Sundowns.

Rodgers, 28, joined the Mother City-outfit on a season-long loan from the Brazilians as part of a deal that saw Khama Billiat going the other direction.

The former Santos striker told the Kick-Off website that he intends to use his loan spell beneficially instead of using it as a ticket to go back to the Brazilians.

“Will I use this year to fight for a return to Sundowns? We never really spoke in terms of that. I just wasn’t part of the plans this season for Sundowns," said Rodgers.

Rodgers also revealed that he always gives 100% at training but stressed that not every day will be a productive one.

"If you ask me in terms of working hard, I always try to give my best. Yes, we all have off days and good days, but I will always do my best.

“Ajax are a good team that play well and I think this is my opportunity to find my form in terms of goals. If I do well for the team maybe Sundowns will take me back or sell me. But whatever the case may be, the door is open for me. I will be willing to see out the sacrifices.”

Rodgers made his debut for the Urban Warriors on Sunday when they lost 2-1 to AmaZulu at the Cape Town Stadium.
