Cape Town - Former Bafana Bafana captain Lucas Radebe said the key to Kaizer Chiefs' success this season was consistency.

Chiefs, who clinched the Premiership title after their 4-1 victory against Polokwane City at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday night, have been defeated just twice this season.

With just three matches left, the prospects of them maintaining that record are high.

"They were remarkably consistent and efficient throughout the season," said Radebe.

"I'm truly impressed with the way Chiefs has gone about every game they've played - they are deserving champions,” added Radebe.

While Chiefs have been by far and away the most dominant team in the Premiership this season, there was still a slight chance that Sundowns and Wits could catch them at the halfway stage.

However, that didn't quite materialise and Radebe is glad that it didn't.

"It is truly fitting that Chiefs will be crowned as Absa Premiership champions," said Radebe.
