Johannesburg - Andile Jali could line up for champions Orlando Pirates against Ajax Cape Town on Wednesday after initially being ruled out of the match.
According to the supersport.com website, Jali suffered a knock to the ankle in the 2-1 win over Zambian club Zanaco in the African Champions League second round, second leg tie at Soccer City on Saturday.
Club officials initially reported he would be out of the key Absa Premiership match, where Orlando Pirates have a chance to cut into Kaizer Chiefs at the top of the standings, but the knock now seems not as serious as first diagnosed.
Pirates, who have drawn their last four league matches, could well field him in their match at the Cape Town Stadium.
Benni McCarthy, Moeneeb Josephs and defenders Robyn Johannes and Rooi Mahamutsa, who were both out with long term injuries, all returned to training on Monday. “I feel good, and I am obviously looking forward to playing a part in the remaining matches of the season,” Johannes told his club’s website on Tuesday.
“However, I have to work hard at training to regain some match fitness before I am considered to play as you know I have been out for almost seven months.”
