Cape Town - Punch Masenamela says Polokwane City's attractive style of play was a driving factor in his decision to join the Premiership club.

The new recruit is excited about the start of the new season after making the jump from Platinum Stars.

It has been a challenging few seasons for the wing-back after he was discarded by Mamelodi Sundowns, and then deemed surplus at Stars.

Having played for the two biggest clubs in the country Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs, the 28-year-old does not feel that the move to a smaller club is bad for his career.

"They play nice football starting from the back and building up. When I was at Platinum Stars, it used to be tough playing against them," Masenamela told KickOff.

"This is not a step back, I thought about it and when the chairman and my agent Jazzman Mahlakgane called me telling me they were interested in my services, I was so happy."
