Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits will both have the chance to put the pressure firmly on Premiership leaders Kaizer Chiefs when they lock horns at the Bidvest Stadium.

The Brazilians currently sit second in the top-flight standings, trailing Amakhosi by 10 points, but holding a game in hand over their title rivals, who are only in action 24 hours later.

That means Pitso Mosimane's men could cut the gap to just seven points with 10 league matches remaining in the campaign, giving the Tshwane giants plenty of inspiration ahead of the tie, if indeed they needed any.

Wits, though, will prove no pushovers and currently sit tied on points with Sundowns, with only goal difference separating the two sides at this stage of the campaign.

The Students also boast a run of seven league matches without defeat, with five of those having ended in victory for Gavin Hunt's men, who also progressed to the Nedbank Cup last 16 after seeing off Free State Stars a fortnight ago.

The Clever Boys did, however, suffer an implosion at the weekend as they let slip a 3-0 first-leg lead in their CAF Confederations Cup clash against Royal Leopards to draw 3-3 on aggregate before losing on penalties.

Sundowns, meanwhile, proved too much for St Michel United in the CAF Champions League as they recorded a 3-0 win on Saturday to cruise into the first round with a 4-1 aggregate win.

On the team front, neither side have any suspension concerns to deal with, although for Sundowns, Bongani Zungu, Cuthbert Malajila and Teko Modise are all just one booking away from picking up match bans.

Wits find themselves in an identical boat, with Dillon Sheppard, Maliele Pule and Sibusiso Vilakazi all walking the yellow card tightrope, and although both sides have reported no fresh injury concerns, the respective coaches may consider rotating their squads, given their continental excursions at the weekend.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
