Preview: Sundowns v SuperSport

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns will be looking to return to winning ways when they enter Wednesday's Tshwane derby, but face a SuperSport United side fresh off their Telkom Knockout title success.

The Brazilians are already in danger of conceding the PSL crown they won last season after slipping 13 points off the pace of leaders Kaizer Chiefs, with four draws in a row seeing the Pretoria giants fall to seventh in the standings.

Pitso Mosimane's men do, however, have a game in hand over five of the six teams directly above them, although they are still in for a tough battle if they are to retain their status as South African kings beyond this term.

SuperSport, meanwhile, will enter this week's clash brimming with confidence after lifting the Ziwa Mo trophy on Saturday following their enthralling 3-2 extra-time victory over Platinum Stars.

Matsatsantsa will now be hoping to convert their cup success into league form, with the side currently languishing in 10th place in the standings, one point below the top eight and a further 14 adrift of the Premiership's summit.

On the team front, Sundowns will have to do without Tebogo Langerman as he is serving a suspension, while Cuthbert Malajila is a doubt with a hamstring strain.

Definitely out are Katlego Mashego and Elias Pelembe (both quad strains), while Percy Tau remains a long-term absentee as he continues to recover from knee ligament damage.

For SuperSport, Roscoe Pietersen will have to watch this one from the stands as he misses out through suspension, while Michael Morton, Dove Wome and Thabo Moloi are one booking away from suffering the same fate.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
