Cape Town - Orlando Pirates will be hoping to break into the Premiership's top three when they welcome Chippa United to the Orlando Stadium.

Back-to-back draws have seen the Buccaneers' title ambitions this term all but evaporate, with Saturday's Soweto Derby stalemate against leaders Kaizer Chiefs having left Pirates 14 points adrift of the summit with just eight games remaining this season.

Eric Tinkler's men do, however, sit only three points adrift of third-placed Bidvest Wits, although the Students are in action against basement club AmaZulu on the same day, and will be huge favourites to secure the win.

Chippa, meanwhile, will be desperate to avoid being sucked into a relegation dogfight, with the Port Elizabeth-based outfit currently 11th in the standings, just five points clear of the bottom two.

The Chilli Boys, though, are in the midst of a woeful run of form, having failed to win any of their last nine league outings, while they also went down to SAFA third-tier side Natal United in the Nedbank Cup last 32.

On the team front, Pirates have reported no fresh injury concerns, although Lehlohonolo Majoro is missing through suspension, while Kermit Erasmus, Mpho Mvelase, Siyabonga Sangweni and Thabo Qalinge are all on three yellow cards each and in danger of picking up bans of their own.

Tinkler will also have to make a decision on who will stand goalkeeper, with Brighton Mhlongo and Siyabonga Mpontshane currently vying for the number-one jersey, although with the former having kept a clean sheet against Amakhosi, his inclusion this week's appears certain.

Chippa, meanwhile, are still waiting on Edward Manqele to regain his full fitness, meaning the former Mamelodi Sundowns striker is set to again start on the bench, having managed only 27 minutes of league action since joining in January.

And while the former Mamelodi Sundowns forward is likely to be named on the bench, United will have to do without Ugonna Uzochukwu and William Twala, who are both suspended.

Kick-off at 19:30 on Tuesday, March 10.
