Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs will be without Morgan Gould when they host AmaZulu in a top-versus-bottom Premiership fixture in Polokwane on Thursday.

The central defender suffered a torn Achilles tendon injury and has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

But Tsepo Masilela (hamstring) and Siphiwe Tshabalala (mouth) are expected to be fit after travelling with the team for the clash at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The hosts were knocked out of the CAF Champions League on Sunday after going down to Raja Casablanca 2-0 (3-0 on aggregate) in the second leg in Morocco.

It was Amakhosi's fourth loss in their last five games in all competitions and they will enter the clash desperate to return to form as they look to consolidate their eight-point lead over Mameodi Sundowns, who do have a game in hand, at the top of the table.

Usuthu, meanwhile, have struck gold recently and are one of the form sides in the Premiership.

Despite sitting bottom in the table, they have closed down what was once a 10-point gap behind both Free State Stars and Moroka Swallows to just two points with six games to play.

Coach Steve Barker is hoping their run of five matches unbeaten can continue in Limpopo.

"Now that we're so close, the squad has real belief," he said.

"But it will count for nothing if we don’t finish the job.

"Playing against Kaizer Chiefs will be tough, but we're in good form compared to them, so if we can get a good result, it will do wonders for us."

Usuthu will be without the injured Roscoe Pietersen, while Bonginkosi Ntuli and Goodman Dlamini are suspended.
