Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs will be targeting a return to winning ways in the Premiership when Ajax Cape Town make the trip to the FNB Stadium on Wednesday night.

Stuart Baxter's men saw their unbeaten run come to an abrupt halt in mid-February after suffering a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Gordon Igesund's SuperSport United.

Since then, Chiefs cruised past Edu Sports in the Nedbank Cup before edging Township Rollers in the CAF Champions League.

And Wednesday's league clash presents the hosts with the perfect opportunity to banish all thoughts of the SuperSport defeat, ahead of a highly-anticipated Soweto Derby on Saturday.

However, due to the fact that the encounter with Pirates follows just days after their game against Ajax, Baxter could be tempted to rest some key players in midweek.

Siboniso Gaxa, Tsepo Masilela, Willard Katsande and Siphiwe Tshabalala are all one card away from a suspension, casting serious doubt over their participation against the Urban Warriors. That is the only real concern for Baxter, who has a fully-fit squad at his disposal.

The Mother City outfit, meanwhile, welcome Granwald Scott and Mosa Lebusa back into the squad.

However, Aiden Jenniker is still short on match fitness and will face a late test.

Looking ahead to the clash, Ajax boss De Sa told his club's official website: "Maybe this is the right time to play Chiefs. They've just been to Africa and it's crunch-time for them in the league, but we know they still have a lot of quality.

"Some of their players might also have their eye on the Soweto Derby, which will be good for us.

"They might also rest a few key players and also some players who are on three yellow's to make sure they are available for the derby."

Kick-off is at 19:30.
