Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town will be looking to take their Nedbank Cup momentum into the Premiership when they host a struggling Chippa United at the Cape Town Stadium on Friday night.

The Urban Warriors have fallen well off the pace of the top three after failing to win any of their last seven league outings, but they showed they still have plenty of fight in them after dismantling Mainstay United 9-1 in the Ke Yona last 32.

And, although their cup victims were not quite PSL quality, the result should still have Roger de Sa's men buzzing as they return their focus to the league.

For Chippa, the story so far is woeful at best, with the Chilli Boys having suffered the shock of the Nedbank Cup after crashing to a penalty shoot-out defeat to Natal United, who ply their trade in South Africa's third tier.

That result was a reflection of United's league form, where a run of seven matches without victory has left the Port Elizabeth-based outfit just five points clear of the bottom two and staring down the barrel of a relegation dogfight.

In team news, Robin Ngalande will be hoping to get his chance to impress from the start after netting in their Ke Yona triumph, while Noah Sadaoui will also be pushing for a role in the first XI after grabbing a brace off the bench.

However, Jody February, who made his debut at the weekend, is expected to make way for regular first-choice goalkeeper Anssi Jaakkola, while Tashreeq Morris should come back in after missing the win over Mainstay through injury.

Chippa, meanwhile, have reported no fresh injury concerns, although Ernst Middendorp is expected to ring in the changes following their shock cup defeat and woeful league form.

When the Chilli Boys and Urban Warriors met earlier this season, goals from Ntshingila and Nkoana saw the match end in a 1-1 draw.

Kick-off is at 20:00 on Friday, February 27.
