Polokwane City coach sacked

Cape Town - Following their fourth consecutive defeat of the season, Premier Soccer League (PSL) newcomers, Polokwane City, on Monday parted ways with head coach, Duncan Lechesa.

The former Black Leopards mentor joined "Arise and Shine" last season and guided the Limpopo outfit to their first ever stint in the top flight.

However, their 2-1 defeat to Golden Arrows at the weekend proved to be the last straw for City's management.

This will be a major setback for City as they just announced their new transport sponsorship deal with City to City bus service last Friday.

They now have a tough assignment on Wednesday night against Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium and will be desperate to register their first victory in PSL.

According to the Soccer-Laduma website, City chairperson, Johnny Mogaladi, had told both Lechesa and his assistant, Mandla Ncikazi, that Wednesday's game against Bucs would be their last in charge, but the duo instead opted to leave before the mid-week game.

City are currently rutted at the bottom of the table without a point.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
