Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says there is no bad blood between him and Elias Pelembe, who will face his former club when Wits travel to Pretoria on Saturday.
Mosimane has wished Pelembe well at Wits, with the winger on the books of Students after parting ways with Downs when his contract expired at the end of the 2014/15 Premiership campaign.
The Mozambican was one of the highest paid players at Sundowns despite not being a regular.
Management opted not renew Pelembe's big contract, opening the door for a switch to the university club.
"We had to let Pelembe go, because we could not afford him and there were other players we wanted, but we couldn't match the figures," Mosimane told KickOff.
"Pelembe is a very good footballer and there is no doubt about that, but it must be cost effective.
"When we pay big money, you must score lots of goals for us to win the title and take us to the Champion's League group stages.
"We need to be sensible now and we are sensible, but it is not only us. Players must earn the money that they want and you can't score two goals per year and you are the highest paid player."
