Pitso: The team is slowly gelling

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane intends to use the uThungulu Mayoral Cup to keep his players in game-mode during the PSL break.

Sundowns, AmaZulu, Thanda Royal Zulu and Melford FC will take part in the competition on Saturday at the uMhlathuze Stadium in Richards Bay.

With competitive club football in a two-week recess due to the round of international FIFA fixtures, Mosimane is happy to have the chance to keep his charges active with the tournament.

"The season has just begun and a club like Mamelodi Sundowns is always eager to take part in such competitions that will help keep our momentum going," Mosimane told KickOff.

"The team is slowly gelling and playing in a competitive tournament will help us in discovering new combinations that will assist us in the new season."

Sundowns face AmaZulu in the opener, before Thanda Royal Zulu square off against Melford FC, with the winners set to meet in the final later in the afternoon.
