Cape Town Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane said Thabo Nkosi "stole the show" after the referee played a big part in Wednesday's 1-1 draw against Mpumalanga Black Aces.

The match official was at the centre of several controversial decisions this week, including a penalty decision for each team, while he also ruled out Bongani Zungu's 89th-minute goal for an apparent foul in the build-up.

The eventual draw saw Sundowns only able to close the gap on Premiership leaders Kaizer Chiefs to seven points with six games remaining this term, coming as some annoyance to Mosimane.

"I think we gave it our best... But what do you say to your players after all this?" said the coach.

"I think Thabo [Nkosi] must be the man of the match hey? Thabo did very well, he stole the show.

"He reminds me of [Victor] Gomes - he also steals the show."

Sundowns could see Chiefs move 10 points clear at the top of the standings on Thursday, with Amakhosi hosting basement club AmaZulu in Soweto.
