Cape Town - Zambia goalkeeper, Kennedy Mweene, will regain his number one spot at Mamelodi Sundowns this season, insists coach Pitso Mosimane.

Mweene played just 17 PSL games last season after losing his number one spot to former Uganda Cranes goalkeeper, Denis Onyango.

Onyango had initially joined Supersport United where he spent four seasons making 70 appearances. After a season in Mpumalanga Black Aces, in 2011 the goalkeeper moved to Mamelodi Sundowns.

"Kennedy is the number one goalkeeper for Zambia and he helped us to win the league the year before last and he has been part of the team to help us in the Nedbank Cup," Mosimane said at the training camp Zambia.

"The competition is tough. Sundowns is a very ambitious team and a very difficult team for you keep your position. He is fighting and he has the experience and I think he will get his position back. He will fight back."

Having an ambitious team such as Mamelodi Sundowns motivates the players individually to perform at a high level which may well help Mweene regain his form.

Mweene is part of Sundowns five-day training camp in Zambia ahead of the upcoming season.
