Pitso: Downs will defend title

The Absa Premiership campaign will commence on Friday evening with defending PSL champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, facing off with Maritzburg United at Loftus Stadium, reports Soccer-Laduma website.

Sundowns coach, Pitso Mosimane, has emphasised the importance of winning the Premiership again, allowing the club to compete on the continent, representing South Africa in the CAF Champions League.

While Mosimane indicated that they will aim to defend their league crown, he is expecting challenges through the season.

“You must know that you will have hurdles and challenges and that made the league interesting last season. It is not an easy task, but preparations are the best way and I think as a team we have prepared very well.

“We have reinforced the squad and still kept the core of the team which will help us in the new season. It won't be easy, but we will fight all the way. This is the biggest title in any tournament as it takes you to the Champions League. So we have to make sure we try to defend it," Mosimane concluded.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
