Pirates to stifle Aces

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates will look to continue their fine form in the Absa Premiership when they host Black Aces at Orlando Stadium.

Pirates extended their unbeaten run in the league to 10 matches with a 2-0 win over Chippa United last week.

The Soweto side has claimed 20 points from 11 home matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Platinum Stars (home), Bidvest Wits (away) and University of Pretoria (home).

The Buccaneers are placed third on the Absa Premiership log with 40 points from 23 matches.

Aces ended an eight-game winless streak in the league when they defeated Moroka Swallows 2-1 on Saturday.

The Mpumalanga club has claimed 14 points from 11 away matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Mamelodi Sundowns, Maritzburg United (both home) and Bidvest Wits (away).

AmaZayoni are placed 11th on the log with 26 points from 23 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Pirates and Aces have met in 32 league matches since 1985.

The Buccaneers have 13 wins compared to nine for AmaZayoni, while 10 matches have been drawn.

Pirates have won six of their 15 home matches against Aces, suffering six defeats in the process.

When the teams met earlier this season, AmaZayoni claimed a 2-1 win in Mpumalanga thanks to goals from Mbesuma and Khenyeza.

Kick-off is at 19:30 on Wednesday, March 18.
