Cape Town – Orlando Pirates target Siyabonga Mpontshane has received a new contract from Platinum Stars.
According to KickOff, club chairman Advocate Ratanang Nke reveals that they are waiting to get confirmation on whether the deal will be accepted or not.
“First of all, I don’t know anything about Pirates making an offer for Mpontshane.
“But we have offered the player a new contract and his agent Tim Sukazi will get back to me on Monday because the player is obviously with the national team,” said Mpontshane.
Following the death of Senzo Meyiwa, Pirates have since been looking for a replacement and have already started to dig into their academy as they look to promote 17-year-old goalkeeper Tsebo Tsotetsi.
It has been reported that Mamelodi Sundowns out of favour shot-stopper Wayne Sandilands is also being touted.
Meanwhile, Pirates are up against SuperSport United when the Absa Premiership resumes on Sunday, November 23.
Kick-off is at 15:00.
