The 17-year-old is one of the rising stars at the Buccaneers, highlighted by his standout performances in the current MultiChoice Diski Challenge.
And while he was unable to help the side avoid a 5-2 quarter-final defeat to the University of Pretoria in the MDC on Saturday, the playmaker is still tipped for big things in South Africa.
However, Pirates felt it wise to allow the youngster the opportunity to play week in and week out, with a move to National First Division side Arrows thought to be the best avenue.
Pirates' head of development Augusto Palacios confirmed the move, saying: "He (Sangweni) trained with senior team and did well.
“The chairman (Dr Irvine Khoza) decided to allow him go play more competitive football elsewhere to allow him to grow as a player."
Sangweni will now represent Abafana Bes'thende until the end of the season, having penned a six-month deal with the Durban club.
