Cape Town - Orlando Pirates are reportedly preparing a January swoop for
defender Tshepo Gumede, and are even believed to have already approached
Platinum Stars over a potential deal.
The Buccaneers' backline has come in for criticism this season following a string of poor results, which have seen the side already suffer three defeats in the Premiership, leaving them eighth in the standings and 14 points behind leaders Kaizer Chiefs.
Gumede is now thought to be top of Pirates coach Vladimir Vermezovic's wishlist in the upcoming transfer period, and with the player's contract set to expire at the end of the season, Dikwena could look to cash in.
However, the Sea Robbers are not the only side tipped with an interest in Gumede, with Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United all also reportedly keeping tabs on the 23-year-old.
Stars coach Allan Freese, though, is confident of retaining his star players, telling Kick Off: "Look, a lot of clubs are interested in our players but we are already engaged in contract talks with a number of them. These talks are being handled by management."
