Pirates has advantage - Mahamutsa

Cape Town - Rooi Mahamutsa knows Orlando Pirates will be in for a tough task against Al Ahly this weekend, but remains confident in the Soweto giants' abilities.

The Buccaneers travel to Egypt on Sunday for the return leg of their CAF Confederation Cup semi-final, where they hold a 1-0 advantage thanks to Thamsanqa Gabuza's lone strike in the reverse fixture at the Orlando Stadium last weekend.

However, Pirates will still have memories of their CAF Champions League final defeat to the same opponents in 2013, and Mahamutsa hopes they can take the lessons learned there and ensure they avoid a repeat.

"For us going to Egypt, we know they are so disciplined when they are at home so it is going to be a difficult game for us," Mahamutsa, who captained the side in the first leg, told KickOff.

"But if we put our focus there I think we can manage to come back with a win.

"Even at home they gave us a tough time, but we also gave them a tough time and that's why we managed to score a goal.

"It's an advantage for us going there and we are looking forward to scoring more goals there."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
