Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates coach Roger de Sa remains optimistic that his charges will progress to the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League.
The Buccaneers will lock horns with the Egyptian giants, Al Ahly, in a do-or-die Group A clash at the Orlando Stadium on Sunday.
De Sa, 48, told the Kick-Off website that he is hoping to meet reigning Europeans champions, Bayern Munich, in the FIFA Club World Cup later this year, should Pirates go all the way and win the continental showpiece.
“(The CAF Champions League) is a massive competition... there is no doubt about it. If you win the Champions League, you’ve got an opportunity to play in the World Club champs. Can you imagine Orlando Pirates v Bayern Munich? That will be a great experience for all of us," said Da Sa.
Heading into Sunday’s encounter, the Happy People are coming from the back-to-back defeats by Zamalek and AC Leopards, who will play each other on the same day at the El Gouna Stadium in Egypt.
A victory for the 1995 champions (Pirates) will guarantee them a place in the semi-finals, but the seven-time champions (Al Ahly) will need only a draw to go through.
The big blow to De Sa’s men will be the unavailability of midfield maestro, Andile Jali, who picked up a shoulder injury in the mid-week Premiership encounter against Polokwane City.
The much anticipated clash will kick off at 14:30 on Sunday.
