Johannesburg - Despite inside sources at Platinum Stars claiming that Issa Sarr is still contracted to the club, Orlando Pirates’ Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mickey Modisane confirmed that the Senegalese midfielder will be playing for the Soweto giants in the upcoming season.
The industrious midfielder was unveiled by the Happy People at the beginning of the month after guiding Dikwena to MTN8 and Telkom Knockout glory last season.
Modisane told Sport24 in an exclusive interview that the 28-year-old will begin training with his new team-mates on Thursday and will be available for their pre-season games.
“No, Issa Sarr is an Orlando Pirates player,” insisted Modisane.
“He was unveiled by the club earlier this month after signing a three-year contract with Pirates.
“He is currently at our camp with his team-mates.
“He will start training with the rest of our players when we resume training today.
“Issa will be available for all our pre-season games.”
The Buccaneers started with their preparations for next season at their training ground in Rand stadium on Thursday.
Their first crucial off-season match will be against perennial rivals, Kaizer Chiefs, in the fourth edition of the Carling Black Label Cup at FNB stadium on July 26.
