Pirates 2nd place chase continues

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates will host their final home game of the 2014/15 Absa Premiership when they welcome SuperSport United to Orlando Stadium.

Pirates saw their winless streak in the league extended to three matches when they drew 0-0 at home to University of Pretoria on Friday.

The Soweto side has claimed 25 points from 14 home matches this season.

Their remaining league opponents are Maritzburg United and Ajax Cape Town (both away).

The Buccaneers are placed third on the Absa Premiership log with 45 points from 27 matches.

SuperSport played to a second successive league draw when they were held 1-1 at home by Moroka Swallows earlier this month.

The Tshwane side has claimed 17 points from 12 away matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are AmaZulu (away), Mamelodi Sundowns (home) and Polokwane City (away).

Matsatsantsa are placed seventh on the Absa Premiership log with 35 points from 26 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Pirates and SuperSport have met in 47 league matches since 1990.

The Buccaneers have claimed 21 wins compared to 15 for Matsatsantsa, while 11 matches have been drawn.

Pirates have won 11 of their 23 home matches against United, suffering six defeats in the process.

When the teams met earlier this season, the Buccaneers claimed a 2-1 away win in Tshwane.

Kick-off is at 19:30 on Wednesday, April 29.
