Cape Town - Patrick Phungwayo has credited Polokwane City for "the work they put in" after Orlando Pirates had to come from behind to record a victory in their Telkom Knockout encounter.
Tokelo Langa had fired Rise and Shine into the lead at the Orlando Stadium with 15 minutes gone, but the Buccaneers were able to bounce back thanks to a quick-fire response from Issa Sarr before Thabo Qalinge completed the turnaround after the break.
Phungwayo, who came into the starting XI for the suspended Thabo Matlaba, believes Polokwane's new coach Kosta Papic had prepared his side brilliantly to deal with the threat of Pirates, considering the Soweto giants had dispatched the PSL rookies 3-0 in the Premiership earlier this season.
"It was not easy, because we played them a couple of weeks back and I think they planned for us," he said.
"I think with the new coach, he knows what Pirates is all about, so credit to the team for the work they put in."
Speaking of his own involvement in the match, he added: "You always have to be ready when called upon to perform."
