Phiri to take big squad on tour

Cape Town - Free State Stars will take a big squad to Lesotho for their pre-season tour that will see Kinnah Phiri’s side face four teams in two days on Saturday, July the 25th, and Sunday, the 26th.

Ea Lla Koto is expected in Maseru on Friday and will play two matches on Saturday where they are expected to face Lesotho Correctional Service side and Matlama FC.

They will wrap-up their Lesotho tour with two matches on Sunday with the matches against Liphakoe and Bantu FC before returning to South Africa.

All matches will be played in the Mafeteng district at Leshoboro Stadium.

A source at the club told Sport24 that their technical team will also use matches in Lesotho to have a final look at players on trials at the club.

“Indeed, we have a big group of players on trial here and the technical team will look at them in matches against the Lesotho premier league teams on the weekend,” the source said.

Stars are currently assessing former AmaZulu midfielder, Nyiko Tshabangu, Zimbabwean international Liberty Chakoroma as well as former Black Leopards and Mamelodi Sundowns player Mumuni Abubakar.

Former Witbank Aces goalkeeper Lindokuhle Nkambule and Sinethemba Njatie, formerly with Mbombela United, are believed to have already been signed.
