Cape Town - Free State Stars caretaker coach Kinnah Phiri said he is settling into his
new role well following the departure of Tom Saintfiet.
The Malawian was previously assisting Saintfiet, who was sacked on 6 November in the wake of a 5-2 home defeat to Polokwane City.
“I have already decided that I should try my best to make sure that the team keeps up the momentum. Also to make sure that the players are focused on the game and forget about what has happened,” KickOff.com website quotes Phiri as saying.
“I am settling well because I am used to this position now. There has not been much adapting to do.
“The players are okay. They are focused. At first they were not in a positive frame of mind. But now they have decided to accept everything.”
He added: “When Tom was setting up, we were setting up to together. I was an assistant coach then. We decided that we needed to make sure that we move into the top eight before the end of the first round. We are still focused and the players are still focused on that target.”
