Phiri happy with Lesotho tour

Cape Town - Kinnah Phiri was a satisfied man after Free State Stars won three of their four matches during the three-day tour of Lesotho.

Ea Lla Koto started their Lesotho tour with a 2-1 win over Bantu before losing 1-0 to Matlama in their two matches played on Saturday.

They played another two matches on Sunday winning 1-0 against Liphakoe FC before ending their tour with another match against Bantu where they won 4-0.

Despite bemoaning the cold weather conditions, Phiri said his team benefited a lot from the tour.

“It was really cold during our stay in Lesotho, but apart from that the matched were good for our preseason,” Phiri told Sport24.

“My boys were tested during this trip especially in the match against Matlama, who are the only side that beat us among the local teams.”

Phiri also managed to test his new signing during the tour as the likes of Zimbabwean defender, Liberty Chokoroma and Tanzanian striker, Mrisho Ngassa also made the trip to the Mountain Kingdom.

“The trip was very beneficial in our pre-season preparations and gave us the platform to test all our players ahead of the new season,” said Phiri.
