Phala calls for a strong start

Cape Town - Supersport United winger, Thuso Phala, stressed the importance of starting the season well after Matsatsantsa’s poor early-season form last year left them well off the pace.

The former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder was content with his individual form last season but insists that there is still room to do more going into next season.

“I had a good season but obviously you can always do better,” Phala told Sport24.

“I’m quite happy with my performances last season but hopefully there is still an improvement going into next season.”

Gordon Igesund now has a host of in-form striking options to choose from and Phala recognises that the quality of the squad is up there with the best in the league.

“We look like we are going to have a strong squad so hopefully it will gel quickly and we’ll get the results we want.

“I believe we do have some of the best players in the league, but I think there are also other strong teams.

"Hopefully this time we have a better start and then we can challenge for the championship.”
