Cape Town - SuperSport United captain Thuso Phala is delighted with the squad being built at Matsatsantsa, and believes they will be competing for honours this season.
SuperSport recently signed two Bafana Bafana internationals with overseas experience in Dean Furman and Bongani Khumalo, as well as New Zealand international Michael Boxall and Australian midfielder Isaka Cernak.
In addition to the quality of players at their disposal, Phala revealed there is a strong team spirit developing among the squad, which he believes will serve them well throughout the campaign.
"First and foremost it's for us to have that team spirit. We are building a strong squad here which will be able to compete," Phala told Goal website.
"It's true we want to win trophies, just like any other team, but we want to be the best, and to do that we need to work together as a team, which is what we are doing.
"It's still early in the season, but we can see that with the team we have we can achieve things together," he concluded.
Matsatsantsa haven't had the best start to the season, getting knocked out of the MTN8 quarter-finals in extra time against Bidvest Wits, before beating Orlando Pirates in their first league game of the season and drawing the next two Premiership games against Mpumalanga Black Aces and Jomo Cosmos.
