Parker expects more of the same

Cape Town - Bernard Parker expects Kaizer Chiefs to pick up where they off last season, following the appointment of head coach Steve Komphela.

The Bafana Bafana frontman previously worked under Steve Komphela in the national U23 setup and feels there aren't very many differences between the new coach and the previous incumbent, Stuart Baxter.

For this reason, Parker is backing Chiefs to continue their winning ways in the season ahead.

Commenting on the similarities between the two coaches, Parker told Soccer Laduma: "They share similar tactics here and there in terms of the game - how we defend and attack. When I was with coach Steve at the under-23 national team we were doing the same things that coach Baxter did at Bafana."

He added: "It was continuity at that time and I think now at Chiefs it will be continuity from last season because since we started pre-season the coach made it clear that there is nothing he wants to change but he wants us to play more football."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
