According to Soccer Laduma, Cavin Johnson was the favourite to take over following the axing of Boebie Solomons.

Johnson was also linked with a return to Platinum Stars after SuperSport United parted ways with the coach but Dikwena denied that the 55-year-old was to take over from Allan Freese.

Papic initially left his post at the Chilli Boys because the Belgian was unhappy with working under a technical director following the appointment of Mich D'Avray.

"We emphasise that the parties have agreed to part ways mutually due to the club’s commitment to stakeholders to appoint a technical director during this season as part of its bid to be competitive," said the statement.
