Papic targets Pitso's 'Downs

Johannesburg - Polokwane City will go in search of a first home win when they host Mamelodi Sundowns at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in the PSL.

Polokwane broke a four-match losing streak when they were held to a 2-2 draw by AmaZulu in their last PSL outing whic was Kosta Papic’s first match in charge following his resignation at Chippa United.

The Limpopo side has claimed just one point from three previous home matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Bloemfontein Celtic, Bidvest Wits (both away) and Chippa United (home).

Rise and Shine are placed 15th on the Absa Premiership log with four points from six matches.

Sundowns record a second successive league win when they defeated Bloemfontein Celtic 1-0 away from home.

The Brazilians claimed six points from a possible nine in away matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Bidvest Wits (home), Chippa United (away) and Free State Stars (home).

Pitso Mosimane's side are placed fifth on the Absa Premiership log with 10 points from six matches. 

Mosimane has been charged by the Premier Soccer League for comments he made in a post-match interview, following his side’s 3-0 loss to Orlando Pirates in the league on August 27.

Mosimane will appear before the PSL Disciplinary Committee on Thursday, September 25.

In head-to-head stats, Polokwane and Sundowns have met in just two previous league matches.

Both of those encounters took place last season, with each side managing a 1-0 home win.

Kick-off is at 15:00 on Sunday, September 28.
