Papic, who left the Chilli Boys in September, has overseen a change in fortunes for Polokwane who have scored the joint most goals in the league this season, with 19 strikes after 13 rounds of fixtures.
The Limpopo side claimed their fourth win from their last five league matches when they defeated Platinum Stars at home in midweek.
While Polokwane have surprised many, Chippa are arguably the surprise package of the campaign with the Eastern Cape based side jumping to third spot following their 2-2 draw with Mpumalanga Black Aces last time out.
Polokwane City midfielder Sipho Jembula is expecting a tough game against a side who play a similar brand of football than them.
“It will be a tough game, our coach [Kosta Papic] was there and he helped build that team, so their style of play is similar to ours,” says Jembula
“We have done well, so far so good, but there is still room for improvement. We are taking it one game at a time.”
Chippa defender Mbhuyiselo Sambu believes the game against Rise and Shine will be their toughest assignment thus far.
“It will be the toughest assignment for us because we all know Papic is very offensive and if your defence is not probably organised you are in trouble, but we are ready for war,” says Sambu.
Sambu reveals that hard work is the key to their success and although admitting the side is confident, he has warned that one can’t rest on your laurels in what is a tightly contested league.
“Things have been great so far and could be even better if things remain as is, but it won’t come easy. Hard Work has been the secret to our success.
“The confidence is there, but you just have to look at the league table to see that it is not easy, one loss and you slide down the table, that gives is a drive to push even harder.
This will be the first top flight league clash between Polokwane City and Chippa United.
Kick-off is at 8:15 pm.
