Palacios admits that it was far from easy and was happy with the discipline shown by his defenders as AmaZulu frantically searched for an equaliser to cancel out Tokelo Rantie's early goal.
"Difficult game. I think we lost some of the chances, especially in the second-half. Obviously AmaZulu tried to equalise, keep pumping the ball (forward) and that is why I told the back four to stay in their position. But it was a very difficult game... very difficult," he said.
When asked about the combination play between Rantie and Benni McCarthy, he added: "We combine the speed and the player who can hold the ball - this is a combination that can work."
Palacios was not yet aware of the fact that they had moved level on points with Mamelodi Sundowns, who drew against Golden Arrows at the same time. He admits that the result was good for the club, but says that he is not focused on what his opponents are doing.
"I'm not looking at the opponent but it is very good for us," he concluded.
