PSL welcomes goal-line tech

Johannesburg - The Premier Soccer League have welcomed FIFA's decision to approve the use of goal-line technology.

The world footballing body made the announcement last week, with the system possibly being used as early as the 2013 Confederations Cup in June.

The PSL joined Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund in endorsing the move, releasing a statement, which read: "This technology will assist the referees to make correct and better informed decisions. This milestone is envisaged to be implemented during the 2013 Confederations Cup and 2014 Soccer World Cup.

"We, in South Africa, have to first study the regulation, do a cost analysis while also awaiting the announcement of the companies who will produce the technology.

"It is a good decision on the overall, and it marks another historical achievement in world football."
