PSL reschedule fixtures

Johannesburg - The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has released a revised list of fixtures for the remainder of December after this week's games were all postponed on Monday in light of memorial services and other gatherings to pay special respect to the late Nelson Mandela.

The PSL website reports that a packed schedule will now follow the funeral of South Africa’s former president and world statesman on Sunday, December 15, with a full programme pencilled in for the Day of Reconciliation when the competition will resume.

There are six games scheduled for Monday, December 16, amongst the highlights being a repeat of the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout finals with Platinum Stars scheduled to host Orlando Pirates at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in one of three 15:30 kick-offs.

Dikwena, currently in fourth place, surprised the bottom-placed Buccaneers in both tournament finales, although they have not beaten the Soweto side in the league dating back to 2008.

In the other early kick-offs, the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi will host the Durban derby between Golden Arrows and AmaZulu, while Black Aces are set to host Free State Stars at the Kanyamazane Stadium.

Another of the day's big games is set for the capital in the form of a Tshwane derby as fifth-placed SuperSport United will host log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld Stadium at 18:00.

Defending champions Kaizer Chiefs take part in one of two late kick-offs with AmaKhosi, currently second on the log, up against University of Pretoria at FNB Stadium and Maritzburg United to host Wits in Pietermaritzburg. Both those games kick-off at 20:15.

Two games on Wednesday, December 18, will complete the round as Moroka Swallows entertain Polokwane City in Dobsonville and Ajax Cape Town welcome Bloemfontein Celtic to the Cape Town Stadium.

Three further matchdays - December 19, 21 and 22 - will then complete the pre-Christmas programme, before the league resumes next year.
