PSL hit Gould with ban, fine

Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs defender Morgan Gould was handed a two-match ban, as well as a R50 000 fine for punching Wits striker Getaneh Kebede, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) said on Tuesday.

The Amakhosi centre-back appeared before a PSL disciplinary committee on Tuesday night, after being charged with assault in a Premiership match on November 9.

Gould was shown to have connected a hefty blow to Kebede's face in Chiefs' 2-1 victory over the Clever Boys at FNB Stadium.

Gould must also submit a written apology to Kebede within seven days. The apology will be published on the PSL’s website.

Furthermore, Chiefs must submit proof of payment of the club’s internal fine on the player within the same timeframe.

"The player was fined R100 000 of which R 50 000 was suspended for 12 months on condition that he is not found guilty of a similar offence," a statement from the PSL read.

"Gould was ordered to personally pay for the costs of the disciplinary committee sitting."
