PSL excited by transfer period

Johannesburg - PSL general manager Derek Blanckensee is looking forward to the business of the off-season transfer window, and is confident the league are ready to deal with all the comings and goings.

According to the Football411 website, despite plenty of deals having already been struck between clubs for players, those contracts can only be officially concluded as of Monday, July 1.

The transfer period usually carries on through to August 31, but because that date falls on a weekend, and because the NSL rules dictate registration can only take place during office hours, this year's deadline day will fall on August 30 at 17:00.

Blanckensee said in a PSL statement: "From our side, we are ready for the transfer window. As is normally the case we are expecting a slow start with activity increasing markedly as the deadline approaches.

"Technologically our systems compare favorably with any others around the world and our staff are experienced in carrying out the necessary checks.

He added: "What is important for us is to ensure that we process all the documentation for the players who will participate in the Absa Premiership fixtures on the opening weekend."
