PSL releases award nominees

Cape Town - Wits talisman Sibusiso Vilakazi dominated the list of the Premier Soccer League awards nominees revealed on Thursday by the league.

The Clever Boys skipper was nominated in three categories, namely Footballer of the Season, Players’ Player of the Season and Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament.

Should Vilakazi take the honours in all the three categories, he is set to earn R550 000 in prize money.

The Wits striker could earn an additional minimum of R25 000 should he top the scorers chart where is currently sixth with eight goals which is just two goals of the current leader, Bernard Parker.

Vilakazi will face competition from Sundowns skipper Alje Schut and Willard Katsande of Kaizer Chiefs for the big award, the Footballer of the Season, which carries a prize money of R250 000.

Teko Modise, who has had a good season, is also in line for R150 000 which is the prize for the Players’ Player of the Season, an award which is decided by his peers.
